The wine world is on the threshold of a packaging revolution. In the past, it went without saying that good wine was filled in glass bottles with corks. Today, screw caps are the norm for many wines. A second development, the use of lighter glass bottles, went more or less unnoticed by consumers. Now a completely new trend is emerging: 3 or 5-litre bag-in-boxes, 1.5-litre wine pouches (a pouch without a box), recyclable aluminium cans, PET bottles, wine from stainless steel kegs at bars or even paper wine bottles. The range leaves nothing to be desired – or so it seems.

But how do the wines taste like? What about their shelf life? This trade fair is the ideal opportunity to find out about current packaging trends and to taste the corresponding wines. For example, the ProWein trend scouts Paula Redes Sidore and Stuart Pigott will present some wines as an example during the two Trend Hour Tastings on 19 and 20 March, each from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. (ProWein Forum in Hall 13). You do not need to register for the Trend Hour Tastings.
