Champagne BARNAUT EARL

Champagne Barnaut à Bouzy (english)

We have been cultivating tradition and modernity since six generations in order to express the wonders that nature offers us.

I want to express our exceptional terroir, naturally and simply, without artifice and without giving in to fashions. - Philippe Secondé

In 1873, Edmond BARNAUT married Apolline GODMÉ-BARANCOURT from a very old wine growing family in Bouzy.
Vineyard owner and wine broker, Edmond decided in 1874 to do for himself, what he had hitherto been doing for well-known négociants in Reims and Epernay: he produced his first bottles from his vineyards and created his own brand.
Almost a century and a half later, with Guillaume, Philippe and Laurette Secondé, the sixth and fifth generations maintain the founder's philosophy.

The parcellaire, scattered over many plots, offers such a variety of characters to the wines that it gives birth to seven different cuvées of Champagne and two cuvées of still wines Coteau Champenois appellation: the famous Bouzy Rouge and the unique Clos Barnaut Rosé.
Thus, in these outstanding vineyards where each plot is worked with the  greatests respect for nature, where the family has its roots, and where each bottle ages for several years, the story  of one of the first grower-producers continues today.
